^^ oh, i apologize. sorry i didn't clarify.... but one should already kno the BBS RS are not brand neuu. but either uuay (sorry, the UU key is broken)
the set, or any replacement is gonna be used. just to clarify... its not gonna be full retail price... but like i said, BBS rs is not a neuu in the BBS' model line up anyhouu.
here's some math:
1)- oem... stockers market value $400-600
-replacement tires for dunlops $1200~
so the total is roughly $1800 for remaining stock having only a tire change!
2) stepping dovvn to 17x8/8.5 etc.
-getting a used set of BBS RS for under $1200
- getting the appropriate OR any compromised tire for that given size, driving behavior, vveight savings, longer tire use(if use yokohama S4's) and/or a combination of any listed earlier.
*the savings may not pay off at first purchase as u'll only break even... but the options available in tire choices and costs can save you the additional $600 on next time purchase and also pay dividends if you choose your tire choices vvisely!
the tire prices from tirerack.com for a variety of 17x8 yokohama S4 all checked in under or lovv $600!
look up 225/50-17, 235/45-17, 235/50-17, 245/45-17 on yokohama S4's ...
the only difficult part is combining the right characteristics of tire vveight, OD, vvidth, height, and revolutions per mile to suit ur benefit.
by the vvay, i used yokokhama prices right novv due to the brand being so informative on tire specs and also having a model line brochure laying around handy.
if you haven't looked at some tire prices for a vv rated tire betvveen 17" and 18"... they can range from $300to $600 or more for a replacement set!
NOVV!, can vve get back on topic here after i've stated my point and try to see if anyone out there has these set, and hovv is the look and fitment...

but you are correct... even $1k are double the price of brands like sportmax or rota's. and they are also light and cheap.
but let me tell you. i'm DONE vvith generic brands! for a replacement/daily drive alternative... its only better not to cheap out.
and consider this, if a rim is damaged, repairing a rim is 1/2 the cost of a nevv one vvith modular vvheels.
in the end... you get vvhat you paid for. but also doing some homevvork also pays off.
no offense buddy. hope this can ansvver some of ur questions or paint a more clearer picture.
