autovelocity wheels?

autovelocity wheels?
anyone want to speculate/or can calculate the difference that an autovelocity wheel would make in performance, braking, acceleration, skidpad, they weigh in at 8lbs, which would be about 14lbs per wheel less than stock 18's. reason being is that I'm trying to figure out if the inprovements would justify me bying a set of these carbonfiber/mag wheels. I'm thinking of getting some 18by9'' all the way around, does anyone think I'll have rubbing issues with this setup?

Good luck, they are about $1500/wheel. I checked up on these for our car. They have staggered size of 18" x 8.5" & 18 x 9.5" in stock. 9" in the front would stick out a bit, and if you have lowered your car more than 1" you may rub. There was a thread on another board that I am on with NSX's using these rims. The difference was about .5 sec. in the 1/4 mile. They were looking to introduce a new line made of titanium spokes, which are even lighter than the current magnesium spoked units. They were saying 5-6 lbs. The 8 lb. weight was for the massive 10.5" x 18" for the Corvette Z06's.

hmm. so about half a second in the quarter mile. thats quite an increase in acceleration by only adding wheels, these wheels with the willwood brake setup would get you about 20lbs lighter in rotating unsprung weight, and close to high 13 quartermile times without a turbo. not to mention the better braking and steering response that they would give along with better handling characteristics. I think I'm sold...........I might be getting a set in the near future.

Apparently, they don't weight 8 pounds. They weigh more like 15. They are made by Dymag and sold through Autovelocity. A company that was wanting to sell them contacted Dymag and got a set then weighed them. I'm trying to find the link.

if thats the case, then I dont see the benefit, the price is way too high to justify purchase of the wheels if they still weigh like 15lbs. the ssr comps weigh 16 and are almost a third of the price

They are in bankruptcy, but they are still selling them through Tire Rack. There was a rumor Tire Rack was going to buy them.
Also, they are running a special right now on their GT2 line. 18 x 8" are $339 & about 17 lbs., & 18" x 8.5" are $399 & about 17.5 lbs. About 1 lb. more than the Comps. but about $100 less per wheel.

I do wish it was easier to find the weights on the wheels when you go to Tire Rack or the manufacturer's site. Okay, someone's buying 20" chrome bling, who cares what it weighs. But for most street performance and competition rims, I always have to hunt around for wheel weights. I did find a wheel weight database on the net, but it looks like its a couple years out of date.
Anyone know of sites that have reliable wheel spec data?

Gotta figure at 8.5" it is probably closer to12 lbs. (vs. 23 lbs. for stock rim), Still not 8 lbs. Still $1500 per rim. On a Porsche, Ferrari, or NSX that might make sense, but pricey as hell.

at 8lbs per wheel I could justify the price, but for 15.9 lbs that price point is way too high, volks are lighter or very close for the same size. and much cheeper
