ATS Competion wheels - what do you think?
These are really cheap 18 inchers for the RX-8. Wonder if anybody's been using these.
I'm shopping for 4 18" wheels for my 2004 RX-8 6-speed so I can mount winter tires on them.
I've had a bad experience with my last car two winters back - pothole filled with ice at 50mph - cost me $750 for 17"wheels an Michelin Pilots back then. Ouch!
I was wondering how much the 18 inch stock wheels cost? I talked to the dealer and they quoted me $659.00...jeez.. I don't trust them. Wondering if any of you guys know?
Also,
ATS Competition 18" wheels are $89.03/each at discount tires. Is this a good wheel. Is it strong enough for winter?

You would be better off going with a 17" winter wheel/tire combo. You will get a taller sidewall on the 17" tire that can help protect the wheel. And the tires are usually cheaper.

You can downsize as long as the overall tire+wheel combo diameter is within stock specs. Check out the winter wheel thread: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-wheels-tires-brakes-suspension-55/winter-wheel-tire-pics-installed-28442/
As far as the brand, I believe Audi and Porche has sourced their wheels from ATS. I'm not sure if they currently do, but definitely have in the past. Inexpensive and lightweight. That's a good combo.
