anyone used continental winter contacts?

a search provided nothing so i figured id ask. tire rack is recommending them, saying they had great success w/them last year, but im a bit leary to go w/them over the blizzak lm-22s. ive got an extra set of stock wheels, so theyll be 18". if anyone can give me some info on them id appreciate it b/c most of the google stuff is foreign

Tire Rack doesn't list any winter tires in the OEM size right now, so I checked out Continental's Winter tire web page . They don't offer the OEM 225/45-18 size. They do offer 225/40-18, but that's a bit shorter than stock, which will reduce your ground clearance slightly. They don't have a 215/55-17 either (the preferred winter size because it's slightly narrower), but do offer the also-popular 225/50-17.

Given the 18" incorrect sizing for the Contis, I'd stick with the properly-sized Dunlop M3 or LM-22.

Regards,
Gordon

I can't say much about the tires on wear and grip but they're suppose to be the lightest tires available.
