Alignment... how often?

Long ago, the rule of thumb to perform an alignment is once every 2 years. Does this still hold true?

i think it depends more on how crappy the roads that you usually drive on are.

or if you ran into a curb, or if you feel the car's steering feels funny after running over a pothole, lol

never did mine in 5 years now... tire wear is normal, it doesn't pull either way, and the adjustment bolts are probably so rusted they wouldn't move if i tried to get it aligned

2-3 years/whenever you need it.

Just get the Firestone lifetime alignment. Its like $140 or $150 and pays for itself the second time around.

...my Miata needs an alignment bad though

If you get the lifetime package will they change the alignment for you even if it is within specs. So, basicly can I get them to do my track alignment and then a week latter put it back to a street alignment?

At minimum you should get your car re-aligned when you put new tires on it.

Depends on the shop. I went out for an alignment about a week ago, and the Firestones around here would only set my alignment to factory spec, they didnt want to have to deal with being liable if something went wrong...But then I know G3TR3DDY2GR3DDY has the lifetime package with a Firestone up in Asheville, and they set it to whatever he wants his specs...So it depends where you go.
