2nd set of Wheels/tyres for club days?
Hi All,
I am looking into doing some club days (skid pans, motokhana's, track days etc) and want to replace my RX-8 standard 18" wheels and rubber on race days with a second set.
The guys have looked into it and reckon that I should replace it with 16" on the back and 17" on the front (saves on the price of 18" as I'm not sure that I'm willing to invest serious $$$ at this point).
I have found a set to buy as follows and want to know if there is any reason that I shouldn't buy them off spec to use on the rear?
16" x 7.5"
5 x 114.3 stud pattern
195/50R16
They say they are suitable for Drift / Nissan / Toyota.
Really keen to hear your opinions......... Lara

+1. What is the reason you'd want to go with smaller diameter in the rear and larger in the front? I don't know if 16's will fit over your rear brakes. 17" fit fine all the way around. I would go this route. Also the treadwidth you are choosing is very narrow(195). The stock treadwidth is 225. I would think you'd want to go as wide as possible for track tires. I think you can get 245 on the car without having fender rub. The car is very balanced from the factory so I'd stick with equal tire sizes all the way around to keep it that way.
My opinion is: 245/40/x17 Yokohama Advan Neova all the way around.
