Keith.. I'd suggest M1 Autobody in El Monte... or Mobworks. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Just remember, with paint, you get what you pay for... so don't be cheap and try to save money on the prepping of the kit. :P

Thats everything...rims, tires, center caps, mounting, balancing, lifetime rotation and road hazard....oh, and lugnuts.

As for the Dunlops...I only have about 300 miles on the tires. They seem to grip well but I havent yet really tested them yet...and without having another set of 19's to compare them to, I don't know how much help I will be.

I do know that I have not had that much success with low profile Toyos on other vehicles I have had. The main problem with those is separation of the tire tread and severly uneven tire wear. Time will tell if the Dunlops have the same, or different problems. Low pro tires tend to be very delicate. You have to always be on top of tire pressure.

intresting thanks a lot for the advice, what profile are you running? 40/35?

im still confused how much less quality a 4000 dollar 5zigen setup is going to be compared to a 2900 set of volks though, and 4k is under what the typical street price is for my setup.

...it must be because it doesn't say volk racing on them

they are not 1k a piece, they are about 800-900 for the smb finished 2 piece non riveted hyper 5zr's and msrp for 945. the 3 piece 5zr's sell for over 1000 a piece and MSRP for quite a bit above that. 4k was with valvestems, centercaps, and tires

any of RAYS mag wheels are expensive, a set of Mazdaspeed MS-01 mags are over 4k and the msrp is well over that.

i'm waiting for you to be competent enough to understand what i said.

its not a "4k set of 5zigens" they are 800 dollar wheels which makes it a 3200 dollar set. if you want to include tires in the price like kwescott did, yes it is a 4000 dollar set. no, i will not search for you, you can use an internet search on your own i assume. yes, you are very misinformed on wheels my friend, and if i was a brand ***** and wanted just big name companies i would not have gotten volk, they arent the best japanese racing wheels. if you want nice wheels go check out Work and Advan's JDM wheel line ups.

i don't see whats too complicated about this, i will be putting some wheels i feel match the rx8 and the body setup i will have, and i am happy with it. you will get your volks and you will be happy with them. our wheel/tire packages may vary in price. end of story.

What's up?
Here are two links to 5 Zigen wheels that would be over $4000 for a set!

http://stillen.com/Sportscars_detail...d=38031&page=8

Now for my real question, does anyone have a picture of an RX-8 with Volk GTU wheels?
I was thinking of 18x8 and 18x9 Volk GTU wheels in Noble Gold for my white RX-8!

Nice wheels.

You could expect the same size lip as what I have. We're talking mm differences, not something that is easily seen over a photo.

competent? misinformed my friend? you can use an internet search on your own i assume?

Your really pushing it. I mean how cocky can a 15 year old be... and don't call me friend. First off you dog on keiths wheels by calling them played out and boring? He's actually nice enough not to say anything to a little kid but unfortunately i'm not. Let me quote you:

"im still a rays wheel company fanboi though, its just a little too played out. 90% of modded 8's are mazdaspeed full kits with SF Challenges, it gets a little boring after a while."

HMMMM....Sounds like keiths current mods. His car is not boring to me.

Sup with that? I guess i'll go ahead and call 5zigens boring and ugly. Isn't that the same thing? And next time you see me at a local meet please do not come up to me and try to conversate. Honestly, you annoyed eveyone that was standing around me at that meet. If you didn't notice, evey time you came around people would break the group up and walk away. You seem to have a certain effect on people don't you.

huh, i certainly didn't notice that, in fact i hardly ever talked and i was not anything besides friendly, i conversed with all of the rx8 owners there and they didn't have a smidge of "annoyance". I don't see how anyways, in fact i'll go as far as to say ou definately didn't seem that way(and im not just socially oblivious)

"evey time you came around people would break the group up and walk away."

umm, no. i feel you're bitter and offended that i don't feel a volk racing setup and mazdaspeed body kit is the ultimate setup, thats fine and if thats how you want to feel thats fine for you. and it seems at this point you're resorting to rather immature tactics to "make me feel bad" . if you'd like and feel deeply offended by my opinion(which in fact you're not even interpreting correctly) you can tell your friends too, but im nothing but friendly to other fellow rotary enthusiasts regardless of thier car, their modifications, thier wheels, or whatever and plan on learning and helping others with the rx-8.

also if you look back i actually commented positively on his wheels TWICE. because they are nice wheels obviously. i just feel that the sf challenge/mazdaspeed look is a little too common and thats sort of the cliche modified rx8(whether i like it or not) and is getting bland in my eyes, and that is MY OPINION. i think we're done hijacking kwescott's thread.

I agree that volks are the common choice for the 8. I would avoid the zigens as they tend to find themselves on hondas more than anything.

to each their own

the fn01rc(cast version) and the fn+ are common riceboy rims but also happen to be extremely popular rx7 wheels as well. but then again they have a range the spans from 175 dollar cast aluminum wheels to 1,300 dollar forged 3 piece wheels. they are a very diverse company and have a lot of good designs, like rays wheel company(again having a price range spanning from 180 dollar gram lights to well over 1 grand forged mags)

to each their own
Amen

Yeah, are there any clearance issues at all? Also, do you think that if you wanted to you'd be able to fit a tire with a sidewall sizing of 45 without a problem?
