18x8.5, 255/40/18

Hey guys,

I originally posted about about 245's on a 8.5 wheel...i am a spirited city driver and about to buy a new set of tires for my existing 8.5 OZ rims....

Just wondering if you guys would go with 255 now on an 8.5....the only thing i know is that 255 requires at least an 8.5...so is it safe to say 245 is better for 8.5?

I like the look of wider, but dont want to be a dufus and mess up my 8...thanks

255s are only 10mm wider than 245s, so they are ~0.4 inches wider. Shouldn't be a problem, but you'll not know for sure till you try it. Far as I know, no one has put 255s on an '8 yet.

Im in the market for new rims to and im told a 255 will work on a 8.5.Might give a slight fat tire look but shouldnt be that bad.I personaly am looking at 245 40 275 35 18s.If i decide to go same all around it will be a 9 inch 255 40 18.
