What size RA-1 for stock rims for track/some autox?
I just bought a second set of stock rims, and now want to get some RA-1s for them. The RA-1s are going to be for primarily track days, but also for the evo school I have coming up since I don't want to wreck a brand new set of V710s on evo.
It looks like 255/40/18 is about the same diameter as the stock setup, but will it rub on hard cornering? Will it fit okay on the stock rims? Should I go wider? Narrower? I can also only find 245/40/18 online, so maybe 255/40/18 doesn't exist?

I would think that either the 245 or 275 would fit, but I do not know this for sure. I had 275's on a different car in the past, and they were about the same size as 275 Hoosiers.
John Berget is a guy in Wisconsin who usually has some 275's on hand that were used on World Challenge cars as scuffs. They go for about 75 bucks a piece per tire, and are shaved. Just FYI. After autocrossing on 710's though, going to the RA1's is like going back to a street tire. I am not sure that they are even that much better than some of the new ST tires out there. They do wear well though.

They're only gonna be used for the evo school for autox - for actual competition, I'll be getting a set of 710s. If I used 710s in the 2-day evo school though, it'd just trash a whole set - expensive school days!

Last year, they let the students have the run of the course after both days; we probably got 20 - 30 runs each, after each day. At $10/run or so using V710s, that's expensive practice! The Toyos will not be badly abused with that, and they're much stickier than the horrible RE040s.
