17" wheels
Does anyone know if 17" wheels will fit on the 6 speed?
The series I will be racing in specifies I have to run 17" tires, and I am hoping I don't have to put custom brakes on the front to do this. My car is not here yet so I can't test fit it yet.

Yes, do a search on here. The stock offset is 50mm. The lower the offset is the further out the wheel sets. A lot of the people on the forum have used 17" wheels for snow tires on their 6MTs without any problems. Even tirerack.com has a listing of 17"s as alternative sizes for 6MT. Look around, do a search on here for 17" tires, you should find a lot of information about this.

Can I get away with a 40mm offset if I go to 7" wide 17s? My guess was that because the wheel is 1" narrower (25mm) I can move the offset out(smaller) .5" (12mm) which would be 38mm... Also, anyone know much about hub centering rings? I believe I will need these for aftermarket rims, but I don't know where I can get them if I but the rims from a private owner...
Thanks a bunch
Doug.

If you get the answer, let me know! I'm considering ADR rims (on Ebay) that are 40+ 17" (Battle Axe). I'm looking for an inexpensive solution for mounting of winter tires as well.
If someone could help me understand a generic question about offset/tire size variation from stock. I've read on the forum the stock 8 wheel is 50+, and I've also read it's 45+. Either way - if I go to a 10mm narrower tire (225 > 215) does changing the offset from 50 to 45 help or negate the difference? I'm considering a similar change for my Toy Sienna van. stock rims I think are 45+ and I'm going from 205/70 to 215/65 - would 40+ be a bad change or would I want to go to 50+ or would 40,45, or 50 be okay? thanks to those car tech gurus who know!
