wow,

lots of math gone wrong here.

the od of the tires stock. 25.9"

that is the only # you need to know. does not matter what size wheel or tire.

you can only compare anything to the od of the tire.

note.

this a comparison of the star specs z1.

the 245 40 18 and the 245 45 17 both have the same outside tire diamater. that would be 25.7". and that is damn close..

and peppy. the red lights still scare me!

beers

245 40 15 ??? i dont even know they have 245 for 15" @.@

Base on the tire rack↓
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...irePageLocQty=
the Star specs
245/45ZR17----25.7"
255/40ZR17----25"
0.7"is a big difference to me

I'm just base on my knowledge to do the math...
i know I may be wrong ^^

For sure then...may be you didnt get me...
245mm/25=9.8"
245/40/18----
9.8"x0.4=3.92"
3.92"x2+18"=25.84"
vs
245/45/17----
9.8'''x0.45=4.41"
4.41"x2+17"=25.82"

yea...they are the same!!

but what we are saying is getting smaller rims like 17's but also get thinner tires
like 245/40/17
then the outside diameter is gonna be smaller^^

check the site
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...&AID=10398365&

245/40ZR18 = 25.7" outside diameter
vs
245/40ZR17 = 24.7" outside diameter

then that's the different of getting 1"smaller for the rim but keeping the same thickness of the tire, that's how we can get smaller outside diameter

You understand what we were discussing now ?? ^^
I'm not trying to argue....just want to make things clear,
please correct me if i'm wrong
