White Smoke!!! *with video*
First I just want to say I think I may be a bit paranoid, with that out of the way here we go.
My 8 has 106k on her. I've just recently changed the coils, wires and plugs because of misfires and some other issues that I will get to here in a sec.
One day not that long ago, i was filling up my 8 with the car running. She started idling bad (the car was started just a few mins prior to fill up) and smoke started pouring out of the exhaust. Reving the engine seemingly fixed the problem quickly and I was on my way. This was prior to me changing the plugs and this happened a few more times before I changed the plugs but after I had changed the coils and wires. I didn't change the plugs when I did the coils and wires because the plugs had been changed last year when the tire shop flooded my engine in the winter time.
Anyway, I changed the plugs this past weekend and I car was still running the same. I didn't mention this yet but if i rev out the engine and shift into 2nd it boggs out and hesitates. So leaving work yesterday I start the car up and it starts up really really hard. The cel light is flashing and going crazy and then it finally starts up and white smoke is pouring out from my exhaust. I rev her up a bit and seems to fix the problem.
Another thing that I noticed is that the Leading spark plug on the left side when I changed out the old ones seemed to have oil on it. Initially I thought that maybe that was from a poor spark and what was causing the misfires. Now I am being paranoid, I am hoping anyway, and thinking that maybe the seal is going and causing excess oil to leak into the rotor housing.
The mechanic that looked at my car the first time when it was smoking thought that it might be running to much fuel and flooding the engine because maybe my MAS was either needing to be cleaned or faulty.
Anyway, was wondering what was everyones thoughts were on the matter.

white smoke = coolant burning (typically)
Check your coolant levels and get under the car and look for any coolant pushing out through the housings. It could only be leaking into the chambers, which sucks just as much.
With over 100k on the motor, you're out of the warranty, and that being the case with this particular issue.... You're looking at a new engine or rebuild which = $$$$

I took it to the mechanic yesterday, someone not familiar with the Rotary but a good mechanic none the less, and he cleared the CEL that keeps coming on due to a very small leak detected in the evap system. It didnt' pick up anything other then the misfire in rotor #2 which was probably the oil coated leading plug on the left side.
I'm hoping that there really isn't anything catastrophic wrong with the car, if the engine goes it's going to be a driveway warmer for a good long time =( Assuming a seal is going on it, anything anyone recommends that will help prolong its life? I usually put 5w20 in every 3k miles and have a case of oil in the trunk to fill it up when necessary.

the small EVAP leak is your gas cap, buy a new cap for 15 bux it will be gone. (or just do it the ghetto way, CLEAN the cap )
for the misfire, it could be as easy as coils/plugs/wires need replacing. or it could be as bad as engine failing.
screw that 5w20 garbage.
use 10w40 or higher.

did it today again when I left work. It never does it any other time, only when I'm leaving work after working for 8 hrs. It's also a good 30mile drive.
*edit* I just uploaded that video so it may not be of the best quality yet.

We have two dofferent plugs. Did you put the right ones in the correct spot?
It has a little blue haze to it. I wish you would keep the camara still. Could be blue like mechanic said.
I would say water problems.

yeah I definitely made sure I put the correct plugs in the correct spot. This was happening before I changed my plugs but only after I had changed my coils and wires. The first time it had happened I had started my car after work and was filling up the car with gas at the station next door. I hadn't turned off the car because it hadn't warmed up yet. Second and third time happened when I was filling it up with gas also.

Looks to me like the smoke has a bluish tint to it, which would suggest oil smoke. "Smoke" from an internal coolant leak would look like water vapor, not smoke per se, and it would quickly dissipate. If it only does that after sitting for a long time, don't worry about it. Just make sure you check the oil regularly. If it gets worse, you may eventually need a rebuild or replacement.

I want it to at least last long enough so that when I do rebuild it, I can rebuild it with FI in mind =) haha
i'm having the oil changed today and putting 20w50 instead of the usual 5w20.

so it only happens after you fillup with gas? or did i misunderstand?...I also think the smoke has some blue tint to it so it's burning some oil...(more than it should)
