There are 5/2003 built 2004 models whose owners claim they have never done anything special and they have never flooded. I believe most owners have never flooded just as most owners don't experience a lot of the problems posted on this forum. Flooding is affected by a number of conditions beyond just shutting the engine off cold. Also, if your Shinka was built after 3/22/2005 then you already have all the flooding improvements.

From the forum you can tell the problems that happen most frequently, but you can't tell how likely it is that any one RX-8 will experience a given problem. Yes, the 2005s are much less likely to have all these problems but that doesn't mean you are guaranteed to never have any of them.
