Low Coolant level sensor malfunction. Pretty common problem; do a search for it.

If it went on then off later it probably is the low coolant light sensor.

Very common for the RX8's but I would literally check the coolant just to make sure it isn't low. If it's not low then ignore the light, disconnect the sensor cable or replace the whole coolant reservoir.

Yea then your sensor is definitely malfunctioning.

It's personal preference but I just ignore mine. It comes on and off specially after a little spirited driving.

The only way to get rid of the light is to replace the coolant reservoir. There is no way of just replacing the sensor since the sensor and reservoir come together.

...or you can just disconnect the sensor altogether but doing so will result in the coolant light never turning on again if it is actually low.

So you will have to keep an eye on your coolant levels a lot more. It shouldn't be a big deal either since you have to pop the hood to check the oil occasionally anyways.

Thanks Sub, I added those to the newbie thread for the interim until a newbie "troubleshooting" guide is finished.

Sweet, that would be über helpful. Took me a little while to find it. Almost wasn't going to post it after finding it and rather say "Search Noob".
