Catalytic CEL

I've been getting catalytic converter codes for about a month now, deleted it once and it stayed off for a while. The second time it was cleared it came back almost instantaneously. Does this necessarily mean that my cat is bad? I smell no burning or notice any difference in performance. Its also worth noting that I'm on my second engine, first replaced at 82k now I'm at around 86K.

Why ask us? Why not just check the cat for yourself? That will save you and us a lot of time and guessing...

Haha yeahh im learning to not be such a *****. Anyway, I'm just going to give an update incase anybody has had a similar issue. A few days ago i removed the 02 sensor, cleaned it and the clips, cleared the code and im approaching 300 miles with no cel. I'm still not certain as to if the light will return but i would recommend this as a first step. Next possible solution would be to replace the 40 dollar sensor. Finally if im forced to touch the rusted out locked up bolts and if i do discover my cat is on its way out i will deffinently be gutting it or purchasing a midpipe. Nobody wants to dish out nearly 2000 for a replacement cat

i would agree with you if my cat showed signs of wear, my car backfired, smelt like burning, had power loss, rough idle. I'm well aware of the symptoms of cat failure. 400 miles no cel, no problems, car is silky smooth with a nice healthy pull
