There was a red glow on the o2 sensor I'm assuming. It was on the cat, but the cat itself wasn't red. Is it still bad?? If it is, am i allowed to burn the car to the ground cuz i heard that the cat for this car is like 2k??

You can find a used but still in good condition cat here on the forums for around $200. Or the alternative you can go with a catless midpipe and shoot flames, Those go for anywhere from $120-$500.

I have the Agency Power dual resonated and I love it. A little loud but the quality, construction and fitment is great. Plus it shoots flames like there's no tomorrow on the highway. I haven't had a problem with it since I installed it. It's quite loud and has a slight rasp at 4k. However I could imagine it being really raspy and loud with the stock exhaust. If your not looking to attract too much attention, go with the Racing Beat dual resonated or the BHR catlesss midpipes. Their more subtle.

Over the years there are quite a few people (including myself) that have reported a glowing o-ring around the O2 sensor. Some think it is bad, others feel it is kind of normal. I had my OEM cat visually inspected and it looked fine. Mazda also did their test and the cat was within specs. Therefore, I would suggest pulling out your cat and look how the material looks inside.

If your cat needs to be replaced there are a few options. You can find a used OEM one through this forum. You may also want to look at onlinemazdaparts.com or partsgroup.com. The OEM cat although expensive it is designed for our car so it could last for a long time assuming that you take care of your ignition. Other options include welding a Davesport cat (people have been happy with this option) or buying an HKS cat (less expensive than OEM). There are more options with aftermarket cats but I feel that these are the most reliable.

There also are some midpipes with a cat welded on them out in the market. Look at BHR, RP supercat, Racing Beat, etc...No one can tell you though for sure how long an aftermarket cat will last. People seem happy with the BHR option. There are some people who reported issues with the RP supercat but at the same time there are quite a few people who never had any issues with it.

Your final option is to go catless like GK1707 suggested. Quite a few options here as well. BHR is a popular and quality midpipe that many people like. Other options include AP, RB, rx7 store, turboxs, etc...

Do some research and reading on the different setups. Just keep in mind that an option other than OEM would make your car louder. A catless option would make the car louder, stinky, and shoot flames. A catless option with resonator will be less loud. A midpipe with a high flow cat and no resonator will be louder than OEM sound, a bit stinky, and shoot small blue flames. A midpipe with a high flow cat and resonators will be the closest to your OEM setup. Further, midpipes with no cat (even some with high flow cats) would not pass emissions.

Emission on my town isn't important, the guy just gets in drives, in a circle, checks lights, turn signals, horn..and done..but idk on the town i might be moving into. In one place they hook up a computer, check the gas cap, lights and done. But I'll look into removing the cat and checking it myself. And today, the car was back to normal. It didn't struggle, no high pitch noise. Didn't have trouble reaching 6k rpm. But I'm still waiting on my damn wires, so i can change plugs as well, and fully clean my ESS, and check the cat. But thank you guys so much!! Haha without you guys this car would still be running shitty. And you guys are more helpful than club integra (i have an integra, they just tell me to do research when i don't know something. But oh well) if I'm having trouble still, if appreciate if you guy would keep on helping!!

One last thing about midpipes...Any option without a cat will throw a cell associated with the rear O2 sensor. If your state/county requires an OBD scan test (hooking up to your computer and checking for CELs) the car will not pass.

By the way....research is always helpful The best way to search is using Google and at the end of your search add :rx8club (e.g. P2259:rx8club). It will link you with all relevant posts from this site.

Not sure about the numbers. Another method to do it is to match wires by same length. When you pull out one of your old wires match it by length with the new one. Perhaps you might find these couple of threads useful...

Correct. Take some time and read the DYI's I posted. The best thing to do is replace one at a time (take one old plug out put a matching new one in).

Definitely check the cat and see how it looks like. If it is the cat add this to your options https://www.rx8club.com/do-yourself-...verter-108878/

I was actually thinking about doing that, o read it a while back. But i was also thinking about getting a agency power midpipe, and getting a good used cat from here. So when i have the emission test, i just place the good cat on? Any comments haha? Haha, and can anyone post, of someone selling a good cat?

Not a bad plan. It would probably be better to start a for sale thread at the for sale section of this forum. Another idea could be to look at junk yards and see if you can find a cat from a totaled rx8.

Very true on the junk yard. I'll look around and call a few. That way i can save a few extra, and use it towards the AP midpipe.

You found one already? Make sure the packing is still intact. Hopefully this would solve your issue.

Lol I'm just as surprised as you man lol. And the guy said it's in a really good condition, that he was going to keep it for his newer Rx8 (he wrecked his 04, from what he's saying) but he said it's in a really good shape. And i hope it does solve my problemslol . But I'll check it once i see it. I'm going tonight now, I'll be meeting him at a mall. So if i don't comment back by tomorrow morning, and you see on the news that a Mexican guy was stabbed, shot, or someway killed. It was me lol,
