Exclamation Unusual knocking sound

Every time I put my 8 into reverse, or even when I'm stepping on the brakes, I hear a knocking sound coming from the front. I don't know what could be causing this problem. it only seems to happen when I step on the brakes.

It's gotta be a bad lifter or you need a valve adjustment.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what that means. Would you please explain?

I'm just screwing with you. It would help if you could narrow down where the knocking is coming from and what type of knocking it is that would be great. A video would even better.

Lol that's messed up. It sounds like its coming from under the belts but I don't know, it's somewhere around that area. I'll try to upload a video by tomorrow.

Cool, typically the knocking is commonly the SSV actuator arm (search youtube). But it could be something else as well.

It sounds exactly like that, is there an easy way to fix that?

Not really, I was able to find a used actuator from a member here and it fixed it but recently started doing it again so I plan on just replacing the whole SSV assembly (they don't sell the actuator new separately). You can verify by pressing against the arm while it is doing it, it should go away when you press against it. With age the internals of the actuator just get loose.

You don't tell us anything. Year, miles, auto or manual. Might as well use a tea leaf reader.

My guess is you have an automatic and at least the RHS engine mount has failed.

But who knows, 'cause you don't tell us anything.

Well my bad, no need to get butt hurt about things. I've seen many threads without that information and I don't see anyone flaming them, so ******* chill out

You come here asking for help, don't provide even the basic information, then get pissy.

Check your engine mounts.
