For some reason now my trunk release buttons wont work on my 8 neither will my remote. Does anyone now where the fuse for the trunk is located ? My 8 will only open with the key

 

it might be the trunk release button in the glove

 

I tried that still won't work

 

then the fuses are in the drivers side footwell or engine bay

 

label what I tried to look I dont have a clue what it would be label under

 

i think your emergency release is jammed or something... by emergency release i mean fuse.... and by jammed i mean blown. GL

Just to calarify. The button id the glove is an on/off for your keyless trunk relesase and for the driver side button release. It itself is not a release.

 

And................please get a manual for your car and freakin read it. It's a free downlaod at www.mazdausa.com in the owners section.

The Button Id was the problem with my trunk! Thanks guys! Saved me the time of breaking out the manual.

 

Alright I've read through countless threads and google to no avail. I'm stumped as to where the hell this switch is inside the glove box as there is no mention of it whatsoever in my '06 GT manual and there is no visible switch/lock or anything that can be felt to be such around the glove box area for this.

My trunk after a trip to PA and back has been hesitating with the exterior release button and now won't work. Also at times the button on the keyfob as well has issues. The normal release button inside on the driver's side works fine. If my car doesn't come with this so called "switch" inside the glove (which for a GT is surprising) then the only thing I can think of is possibly the battery in the key is dying out but there is no warning light on the dash as there should be in such an event to forewarn me of this.

Someone shine some light on this please.

 

It's just to the right of the glove box when you open the glove box door. Details in the owner's manual are shown on page 3-14.

 

so many ppl do this lol that button activates/deavtivates the trunk release and button on the remote it can still be opened with the key though

 

The button in the glove box may be thought of as a "valet overide" in that you may not want someone to be able to get into your trunk (push the button, lock the glove box and present the valet key). Well explained in the owner's manual.

edit: Not to be confused with the purely mechanical emergency trunk open flip switch inside the trunk (for if someone gets locked in the trunk - like some of those strange pictures in Wives/Gf with '8 thread.

For the '06 GT there is nothing there. There is a pad in place that looks like where it could of gone. However for a GT with keyless entry they probably put all the functionality of locking it in the key itself. I'll test this after work to see if without a key I can use the one on the driver side. If so then that's a poor design, anyone could smash the window and pop the button. It's either that or they didn't install it in mine.

3-14 for GT has no mention of this; as I said no where in the manual does it speak of it (I used the "find" function online as well using the PDF version, nadda). Also if you noticed when I mentioned I could get access from using the one on the driver side, that would rule out the switch being the issue since from what I've read, it locks both outside and inside.

I'm presuming my hunch is right in regards to the battery. I'll find out later.

Alright, well the battery is ruled out; it didn't do jack ****, and jack ain't happy.

I didn't figure the front release on the driver side would be dysfunctional either with the key out of range or if the car is locked, which means it can get broke into and the trunk accessed since I have no switch inside the glove. So only two things are left that could be causing this I believe, a fuse or the switch itself has gone bad. I'm pondering more towards the latter since it still operated when it stopped being fully functional, fading away until it completely was useless.

So that spawns a capital W.T.F. the GT being the top of the line trim, all keyless entry (no key access to doors either) and not a theft deterrent interior lock for the trunk whereas other years and/or trims get it? Starting to lose bonus cookies with me here Mazda.

 

Strange Vlaze that the '05 GT (or in my case Shinka) has the glovebox trunk overide switch (on the right border of the box interior) but your '06 GT doesn't. They don't usually "value engineer" out such features until later in the production lifecycle.

 

Well I'm starting to think this isn't just my car since the '06 GT manual says nothing about this so-called glove box trunk release switch. Just makes me wonder why the hell they didn't install such knowing it takes a simple break in to get access to it. Guess I'm gonna put a trunk monkey in there to open a can of whoop *** on anyone who tries.

Since no one else has a thread on this I'm going to start one to get an idea what years/trims do and do not have it.

 

LOL I wish I had the trunk monkey option a couple weeks ago when I got bumper hit & run !!
