Exclamation Two Noises from Engine - Good Video - Suggestions?

So I have two noises going on with my car as you can hear in the video. The first twenty seconds sound like a gurgling sound and I can't pinpoint where it is coming from exactly. When I go over to the right side there is ticking. I pretty much know the ticking is from an unseated spark plug or bad wire to plug connection. I will take care of that this weekend. As for the gurgling noise, anyone have any idea what the hell that is?

The car is running flawlessly and there hasn't been any impact on performance. However, I do get an occasional studder when idling on a rare occasion. The rpms will dip to 750 then back up to 780 - 790ish, slightly rough.

Any insight would be helpful. I can't stand that sound anymore.

2004 MT
108,000 miles
Plugs, coils and wires replaced around 15k or so ago.. Maybe a little longer.

Thanks.

don't know where the noise is but i can give you a tip for finding it . Get a long plastic handled screwdriver and place it on different parts of the engine while placing your ear on the plastic handle . Be carefull you don't get the SD hooked up in a drive belt and get the handle shoved into your ear .

Handle shoved in my ear.. sounds like a good time! I seriously can't pinpoint that sound anywhere. At first I thought it was my water pump, had that replaced and burped the car. Still there after that.

As for the ticking sound, I am correct with the spark plug / wire diagnosis correct?

well what chance do we in internetland have then ? Try the screwdriver - you will be surprised at how effective it is

quite possibly - a good way to find that kind of thing is to open up the bonnet on a pitch black night and do a visual on the spark plug leads . any tracking will most likely be visible .
Or you could just take everything off and inspect for tracking .

Or use an automotive stethoscope. They can be found at your local parts store.

That rattle on the passenger side could be the SSV malfunctioning.

Do a google search on RX8 SSV and see if it makes sense.

Oh and I have used the screwdriver trick for about 40 years. It works well.

The SSV is more of a tick. I can't be th only person who has heard this before. Out of the hundreds of RX8 videos I have seen I never heard a similar noise though.

Stop expecting someone to magically diagnose this for you .
Buy that stethoscope thing and do your own investigation - then tell us all what you find so we can all benefit .

Relax. I am mainly asking if someone experienced or heard this.
