Do you have a screen before the MAF? being so close to the inlet and with nothing to stabilize the air across the MAF, I don't see how that would not cause an issue and screw up the MAF readings. Although, I don't recall many people running this kit with any great success for any serious amount of time.

What were you doing with the gas pedal during these logs? It is tough to decipher them without a steady RPM.

Also, is your ESS clean and have you reset the NVRAM (brake stomp method). Also, it sounds dumb but are you sure the plug to your throttle body is plugged in all the way and snug?

I have a screen before and after the maf sensor.

First log I was sort of blipping the throttle to just keep it going. second log I was able to hold the pedal pretty steady and keep the rpms around 2k. it would sputter and drop at times and bounce up and down.

I havent had an issue with the ESS but cleaning it couldn't hurt, and no I have not reset the NVRAM. I'll do both of those things next time im out in the garage. Yes the throttbody plug is fully attached and secured.

Swap the MAF pipe and the 90 bend pipe coming thru the front and then try it and see if it makes a difference as well. put the screens in as well.

Wow I feel like an idiot for making that mistake. Well after flipping the maf around, resetting the NVRAM and cleaning the ess it idles great. i tried both the stock tune and the turbo tune i already had and they both idled good. I drove it home (turbo tune) about 15 miles from the garage i was keeping it at and not a single problem along the way. idles and cruises around 14.6. just a few more minor things to button up and hopefully will be good for the webinar and tunning tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys.

Awesome man. We have all made dumb mistakes like that man so don't sweat it. I have started my car many times without something plugged in or hooked up right. That is why I am always telling people to check the simple stuff first.

Hey guys so during the tuning session with kane i blew a fuse in my power cable that runs to my trunk for the battery relocation. Today i replaced the 100 amp fuse with a 150mp circute breaker. Took the car for a 5 min cruise and as i am cruise in 4th at about 3k rpm i slowly start to loose power. I push in the clutch and it instantly dies. I dont have my hood on so i can see what happens next, my vented oil catch can lets out a puff of white smoke. I coast in to a parking lot and open the oil filler neck, it now is letting out this mysteriouse white smoke. I smelt it and it didnt smell like anything. Any ideas on what the smoke is? Coolant temps were at 196. Im sitting waiting to get a tow back right now because it wont start.

looks like brand new oil. no milky look to it or seperation. I will say after I got it back home and let it sit for a little when I went back a smelt the oil filler neck it did smell a little weird. although I never really knew what it smelt like to begin with. also to note when it first died and I tried to re start the car it sounded like it hardly wanted to turn over (temps around 190F). I tried to start it when I got home and it sounded like it was about to start(Temps at 105F). not exactly sure what this means but does not seem like a good sign. When I tried to start it the second time my brother said he could smell some fuel. I am thinking maybe I am having issues with my injectors again. I am headed back to school so when I am home on friday I will pull the uim off and see what the injectors look like. Until then let the speculation begin.

Also had a code. P0335. Crank shaft position sensor.

When was the last time you cleaned the ESS sensor? Bad timing can throw it into limp mode and cause all kinds of drama.

I cleaned it just before I got it running initially, a little over a week ago and I have only put on about 25 miles.

I just reached in and wiped it off with a rag.

Did you try to reset the ESS? If that is not reading correctly you need to deal with it before you do anything else.

I did do the 20 brake stops when I was waiting to get towed home and again once it was home, still wouldn't fire up. When I get home friday I am going to try it again, take sensor off and clean it again, do a once over on everything to make sure is out of the ordinary and reset the ecu with the stock tune to see if it will idle alright again. Will update with results.

Today I took off the ess, cleaned it and went over everything else. didn't find any problems. Went to start the car and it just kept turning over. loaded the stock tune and same thing for the first few attempts. I finally got it to start and it idled at 250 rpm for about 5 seconds then went up to 2k and slowly droped to 1250 rpm and stayed there. this whole time the car had sort of a pulsating feeling, even when just turning over the engine but not starting. anyways it idled for about 45 seconds before I shut it off. here is a video.

rx8 idle problem - YouTube

it was idleing at 1250 rpm with a vac reading of 14", not good. also there was a very loud clicking going on which you can hear in the video. shortly after the video stoped the clicking just stopped but the pulsating didn't. I got a log of the car idleing if you guys want to check that out aswell. Car didn't throw any codes.
