Trobules with starting the engine on

Hi guys,
my 04,47xxx miles has problem with starting the engine...
it happend about a month ago...before it started the engine well(with 04 starter).
I searched the forum but couldnt find any related thread for my problem...

The problem is...it does start the engine but it takes 2~3 seconds to turn it on after I turn the key...

First I thought it was a starter problem, so I bought an 06 used starter.
Second, I thought maybe it is a battery problem.

So I went to the shop and the guys check the battery... and said the battery is fine.
And they also claimed that this is not a starter issue too, when they turn on and off the engine several times.

AND they CLAIMED that it is either a spark plug problem or low air compression(?)(I am not sure about this,I didnt catch what they told me).

I didn't have enough time to leave the car for an hour so I left the shop...

What would be the problem for starting the engine?
Spark plug? or low air compression(?) or there might be other possibilities?
Btw, the car runs still great, I don't feel any decrease in power...
Thanks!

when was the last time the spark plugs and coils were changed? The stock ones from Mazda tend to go bad around 25k.
2-3 seconds isn't too long. Are you finding the trouble starting first thing in the morning, or after the engine is warmed up?

Okay, here is Santa Barbara, very warm.
And... it doesn't matter when it is in the morning, engine is warmed up... or whatever.
It is the same whenever I start the engine.
I bought this car at 37xxx... and I am not sure when the previous owner changed the plugs and coils...

I forgot to ask how your RMP's hold at idle...

It doesn't quite sound like you have bad compression. I recommend getting new plugs and coils (all 4, all at the same time). Check the "For Sale" section here. I know I've seen a number of people selling theirs for a good price.

I had the same problem. I replaced the ignition coils and it stopped. The dealer said the coils were fine, but they also said the 'slow start' was "normal". After replacing the coils it went away. It could be other things too though, but that was my experience.

Here's a thread you should read

However, I would recommend getting the BHR ignition system. Best on the market

I would recommend you go with (at minimum) 4 plugs and 4 coils. Change them all at the same time, and you should be fine.
Plugs don't really need to be changed until 60k miles.

I have a similar problem with my 04 rx8 on the weekends I don't use the car at all, come Monday mourning the car takes a bit more time to start up, it sounds if the battery was low. Any ideas of what it might be??
