I too have been running the RP max gear and have experience grinding in 2nd and 4th gear upshifts as well as 3rd to 2nd downshifts above 48 mph.
I'm going to perform a fluid change this week to see if that makes any changes. I'm also in the process of installing a stainless clutch line and make a pedal adjustment.
I'll post up the results!

Redline MTL FTTR
(For the trans replacement, not heavy enough)
I'm still not sure about people using Shockproof for the street, you may want to consider Redline 75W90NS or 75W140NS (my vote) , the NS designation = non-slip, it specifically does not have slippery addidives for sychro use

I believe the Mobil1 75W90 has friction modifiers in it which wouldn't be great for syncros. I emailed Mobil and they do not recommend it for manual trannys. In Europe they offer Mobil1 SHC as an MTF. You can't buy it here.

two problems with the early build 04s. quite a few had the bad sycro issue, i dont think that made a tsb. it is usually the 2nd gear syncro, but i have driven one with a bad 5th and 6th..
the other was pressure plate bolts backing out.. that did make a tsb...

better than the OE oil is the Kaaz 80W90 dino oil that they sell specifically for their LSDs, no friction modifiers. It will cost you though; $44/2 liters plus shipping
the 2004 trans TSB is for a weak 2nd gear shifter fork that bends

team what fluid do you keep in your new diff?
i wasnt having synco issues --mine was more gear noise. !st thing to addres if you think you have synco issues is clutch adjustment,--make sure that is not an issue 1st(this includes bleeding the clutch).
I have tired to reduce my gear noise(more apparent after the short shifter install) with many different oils. these include
1- redline light weight shock proof
2- redline heavy weight shock proof
3- moble 1 synthetic 75/90
4- straight redline (trans oil)
5-redline heavy weight schock proof and RP syncomax blend (1 to 1)
6- royal purple 75/90
and last and by far the best result in shifting and noise is one quart royal purple 75/90 max gear and one quart royal purple 75/140 maxgear. The trans does hold 2 quarts without any drainage from the top plug.
this blend for my car makes the shifting a little more firm--not slick with just the 75/90---and the gear noise and even the pilot shaft noise much quieter.
I have an 04 with 47K. track a good bit. I change trans and diff fluids once a year at least.
