So I jump in my car to run to the store and out of the blue it will not go into first. I finnally got it in a drove it and noticed that it shifts fine while moving ,however when sitting still like at a red light it does not want to go into gear. Does anyone know whats going on before I take it to a transmition shop?

 

Can you get it into second and then first? Could be your motor mounts if it happens after a sudden stop or incline.

 

Clutch all the way to the floor? In a safe place, with nothing in front of you, turn it off, put it in first, depress clutch, start car. Did it move when you tried to start? If so, clutch is not releasing all the way. There are several reasons this could happen. If there are no end of the world screeching sounds, likely master or slave cylinder or both. Have you ever flushed brake fluid or flushed clutch cylinder?

 

OK, Thanks for the help first of all. I tried the cluch that doesn't seem to be the problem. I will make it a point to flush the system sure thats always good. Weird thing it didn't have any problems this time. My driveway is quite an uphill slope I use the E break but I found my car at the end of the driveway one day. Me heart attack.lol So I always put it in first also this be causing my problems.
