TPMS Blinking After About 20 Minutes of Driving?

Hey guys. Last week, I noticed my TPMS light starts to blink after about 20 minutes of driving, and typically after driving higher speeds (65-75MPH).

I took it in for an oil change and tire rotation/balance and mentioned it, but apparently they didnt see anything obvious. Should I be concerned and get it looked at again?

My guess is it's not getting a reading from one of the sensors. When I had my snow tires mounted the TPMS light would start blinking after 5-10 minutes of driving and it was because there were no TPMS sensors even mounted on the wheels.

Is your car lowered? Stock or aftermarket wheels/tires? Also, did you check the tire pressure on your tires when you saw the light blinking?

I ask because I seem to have a problem with air pressure building in my rear tires on longer trips. When I bought the car, it already had aftermarket wheels and I believe the offset is not correct causing a wear/excess friction problem.

Hope this helps.

The TPMS system will alert for under or over inflated tires. My guess is that when tires are warm the pressure exceeds the upper limit. Check the tire pressure with the tires completely cold--like maybe overnight--and set to 32psi.

the TPMS light will stay solid and beeeep if it's a tire pressure issue.

if it's flashing after about 10-20 minutes of driving it means it is having trouble communicating with one of the sensors in the wheels.

bottom line: one of your tire pressure sensors in the wheels is broken, get it replaced and you'll be fine.

First check the tire pressures. If they are all 32 then get new tpms but if the pressure is low add more. The tpms will go off if there is too little pressure or too much pressure

I had the exact same thing happen on mine for 1 year - then finally a good tech did the diagnosis properly and found two TPMS units defective (lost transmission when warm). The other dealers always claimed "Issue could not be duplicated."

It is amazing how few good techs there are out there... ones that have solid trouble shooting skills. I am glad you were able to track down the problem.
