You can have it welded. But PLEASE PLEASE go here (http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm) and file a report on this with the NHTSA. We are trying to get Mazda's attention on the premature clutch pedal failures due to weak welds. There is an active investigation now, and this, plus pictures, will help add to that.

I had mine welded and it started breaking again. an easy prevention for this is to either weld or bolt up a 90 degree bracket on the left side of the assembly where the top hole is.

Mine was still going strong after a year, but since I drive really far, I ended up buying that bracket/new pedal. Check your springs in the top of the clutch pedal to make sure they aren't carving through the bracket also.

I did a little mod on mine to make sure the spring does not dig through again. Got some stainless L brackets and drilled out the hole so it fit snug, then welded it.

Lol. I ran into that also going through 3 hardware stores until I found something close enough. Can't wait to see it, keep me informed.

thanks for the input guys, gonna buy the reinforce kit and new clutch in the near future, so Charles ill be in contact with you, only have a few more payments then she's all mine.

So I got the clutch pedal back in the car, hooked it up, seems to be working fine, however when i took ot for a test drive cause its been sitting for about a week, got home, popped the hood and start wiping it down, guess whats missing, my god damn tension pulley for the ac belt, i just saw a bolt hanging in there and was like ****, looked at an exploded view and sure enough 5 pulleys instead of six, I just had Mazda put new belts on cause im getting up there in mileage. IDk but they're fixing it, also found a blown coolant hose, if it aint one thing its another

yeah i checked it with calipers, but just to be sure im gonna have Mazda check it for me when they fix the other problems, at first when i drove it the cluctch was slipping and it wasnt making that chirping sound in neutral, adjusted the pedal a little, chirping came back, slightly pressed the clutch and it went away, this is how its always been drove it around the block clutch didnt slip but i really couldnt run it hard cause im nervous of my new findings, hopefully all will be well by tomorrow, so much for trying to save a buck

BTW do you recomend any coolant hose kits, probably gonna get an oem hose due to time constraints right now but on my wish list, as well as your mid-pipe, when will the upgrade be completed.

Thanks
