Hey guys need some help on this one,
I have searched this and nothing that I found seemed to fix it. The problem I am having is that the sunroof will tilt and slide back just fine but every once in a while it will not close shut. Both the tilt and slide close buttons will do nothing. Doesn't make any noise doesn't dim the lights when when the button is pressed(like the windows do when drawing power) or anything out of the ordinary besides not moving.
I took the map light console out and checked for an inline fuse or anything that might cause this to happen but found nothing. Unfortunately I don't have a multimeter with me but I do think it is getting power since it always slides back with no problem. One time I slide the roof back halfway and tried to close it and it would not but it would still let me open the roof till all the way back.
This has been going on for several months now and the only solution has been to park it and come back every few hours and try till it finally works and closes. But this time it has been almost two days and still will not shut. Have any of you had this problem or know of a way to manually shut the sunroof so I can at least drive it till I get a permanent fix? thanks for any advise!

 

do a google search "site:rx8club.com sunroof reprogram" or something along those lines and eventually you will find the reprogram method. give that a shot to see if it fixes it. I know i had to do it once for some reason to get mine working again. goodluck

 

thanks for the reply. I finaly got the roof to close yesterday and went ahead to reset the sunroof like you suggested. slid back just fine but once again got stuck and wouldnt let me finish the reset because I could not slide it forward. Really dont know whats wrong its just completely unresponsive. Anyone have a new idea?

 

that also happened to me, the instructions can be (to and extent) difficult to understand. just try it a couple more times and eventually all should work just fine.
