Mine was behaving this way and it was the engine. Get a compression test done if nothing else.

 

Thanks for the reply. I'm sure it has low compression due to the hot start issues. I can handle letting it sit and cool lol. It's doing a lot better today. Drove 30 miles and no stalling. The rpms did bounce a little at the end as I let it idle. Just got the car recently and can't afford a rebuild or swap at this minute. If the engine goes before I can I guess I'll have to drive my Mazda 6
