I don't see how, strange and very bad things would have to happen for the clutch to keep the flywheel from spinning. My bet is that the engine is seized. But who knows what methods are being used to determine the current issues because non of what she is doing makes sense.

Yeah, that is why I suggested what I did. When my clutch shattered and the metal got lodged in the starter nose, it acted like an anchor on the flywheel. I couldn't rotate the engine very much using the main pulley.

If the engine is seized, she won't be able to rotate it at all.

If there is a clutch problem that is similar to mine, locking the flywheel to the bellhousing via shrapnel, she should be able to get at least a bit of movement out of it.

If the engine can rotate fine with the nose, then there is something wrong with the starter gear engaging with the flywheel.

Identifying if the engine can rotate at all is a fairly important next step.

Either way, all you get to do is read my situation on here and I'm with the car in person so that probably has something to do with it.

Woah buddyyyy.

Being certified basically means I know how a car's systems work, and I know what each part does and I am able to identify said parts. It's a small stretch to be called a mechanic, but I don't claim to be one. I mentioned the reason why I put it out there in the same post. I wanted everyone to know that I know the basics so I could move forward, hopefully. But being condescending isn't very helpful.... =\

Well your method of diagnosis seems odd to me if you are certified and know how a cars basic systems work.

So, did you try and rotate the engine from the front pulley?

So why did the motor stop running? Starter - no, battery - no, electrical problem - unlikely. Ignition - maybe, fuel - maybe, internal engine problem - most likely. Time will tell!!!

I mentioned I haven't done anything yet. =p

Everything I did made perfect sense to me. Car shut off, won't crank back up, so I checked battery, connections, and fuses/relays. I went from there, taking easy things first. Sorry you misunderstood my steps but they helped eliminate easy issues.


I do appreciate that you care about my problem though, and I will keep you updated. I mean let's face it, my first thought when it happened was OMFG MY ENGINE but at the same time, my clutch has been going out and we were adjusting it just two days before this happened so that seems possible too.

ANYTHING is possible.

But if it is my engine, let the fun begin. >_>
