My 2004 rx8 used to run fine and the engine sounded beautiful, but recently this chain rattling kind of noise appears. it's pretty short and sometimes worse than other times. it sounds like a bunch of coins in my engine or some kind of chain rattling. It's heard whenever i accelerate or break and especially in the first and second gears and only for a second before it goes away only to return when i brake and accelerate again.. it sounds scary and serious.. it makes the car sound horrible when im leaving a parking lot. anyone know what the sound might be?

 

First thing I would do is check you oil, they all your other levels. Maybe go to autozone and get them to check to see if you have and stores CEL codes

 

well I've done an oil change recently while the problem existed just recently, so i need to check my other levels?

 

how bout exhaust? anything shaking like heat shield maybe?? also lightened flywheels shake too if u put one in, good luck
