GA Stock Air Box Help

So i followed the DIY on removing the stock air box, which was great by the way. And I did end up losing one of the lower grommets. I couldn't find where it had fallen. So if it did fall into a bad area, like the radiator fan it suggests in the DIY, what would be my symptoms? I seem to have lost all power since i replaced my air filter.

Replacing the air filter and the car feeling weak wouldn't be related unless you somehow installed the MAF wrong or knocked an intake screen out of place. Or replaced it with an even dirtier air filter, but that seems unlikely. Any CEL?

Right i figured it was completely unrelated. I cleaned the MAF when i was in there which it really didnt need, and put it back in without any complications. Everything is in exactly the way it was before i replaced the filter. and haha its obviously a new one... CEL ive had for months, its the SSV, but it is a large noticable decrease in power. even more so than when my CEL originally came on. no idea on this one.

9kR has a good point

I think it's probably a failing ignition component.

I've suspected weak ignition coils. My warm starts have been rough recently. Just hoping its not bad compression.. 120k on original engine... Anyways thats where my next paycheck is going; ignition coils. Thanks for the help guys.

Dang 120k on the original engine?? Where you're next paycheck should be going is a compression test!

Ignition coils cost less than 100 bucks.

and after you replace ur coils and sprak plugs. find a long highway and beat the **** out of the car, u might have lots of build up in there and u might free a seal or 2 that way.

Sure there are 8s that have made it to 200k on the original engine, but it's just not very common because people don't know how to maintain rotaries. I'm not saying OP doesn't know how, I'm just saying that with that many miles, there's a decent to good chance he has low compression. I told him to get a compression test because it would be a good idea, having that many miles and all, before he starts spending money on a tune up, especially if he's "having rough warm starts recently" and power loss issues. But like I said before, it could also be coils. It would just suck to buy new coils and not help anything.
