starting issues

hey guys, new poster long time lurker. ive got an 04 mt with ~125k on it and recently shes had problems starting, but only when freshly turned off. quick stops, like the gas station or running into the convenience store are what does it. when the car is fully warmed up and the stop is less than 10-15m itll take a few tries to turn her over. it sounds like it wants to go, but doesnt. sometimes it fires up on the first time, but about 65% it takes at least two tries. maybe 15% of the time it takes more than two tries, sometimes as many as four, but she does turn over. starter is strong, any ideas? thanks!

coils and wires were replaced in the last year. plugs have about 40k on them, my original set lasted 80k. battery is a few years old, but a red top so its good. ive trickle charged the battery to make sure it wasnt really low or anything, but it was almost full when i plugged it up

any easy way to isolate the alternator?

Few possibilities.

1) Bad coils or plugs
2) Bad battery
3) Old alternator, the new ones run about $150 and are easy as hell to install yourself
3) Low Rotor compression

at 40k miles it COULD be the plugs but I doubt it. What's last year...? 2 months and 15 days ago? or 14 months and 14 days ago? But assuming it isn't the coils or plugs.. Warm start issues are typically due to Low compression... sorry :/
