stall after highway driving.
so here we go, i was driving to tampa this weekend from jacksonville at a steady speed of 75. i wasnt experianceing any problems the whole drive untill i stopeed for gas. when i pulled off of the highway i proceeded to the traffic light and tried to get to redline in 2nd, i got to about 7200 and it started to die out. when i got to the light i took it out of gear and reved to the red line and it died. i started it back up went to the gas station and shut it down. after i started it up it was fine the rest of the way. i have had problems with power loss in the upper rpm range in the past and i have had all my recalls done. the car is stock besides a gutted cat. any thoughts?

Hopefully more people read this thread.
I had the same problem last week (Jan 29th '08). Was driving from West Palm Beach to Gainesville, FL. Got off in gainesville, revved up at a light and when I got to about 5000 rpm's my car idled out. Shut it off, turned back on and the problem never came back.
On the drive back the same thing happened. And shutting the car off alieviated the issue again.
I have no idea what's going on.
Any ideas?

Same thing happened last night, but I'm boosted with the Int-X and no power loss. Pulled over, pulled the Int-X fuse, and then restarted and drove home. Not sure if resetting the Int-X did the trick. Everything is fine now. Not sure what happened.

Maybe the Bermuda triangle is drifting?
No seriously. The rotory doesn't like steady speed, especially cruise.
Many engine failures do to that. Not enough oil from the OMP.
Try to avoid that.

Got Another Rotary
^^^^ Maybe.
It also may be your last 2 intake runners sticking and not opening up at 7500 RPMs like they are supposed too. This can be common in cars that are not run hard often enough and with the mileage you have (75k).

its been a while since i started this thread but i have found out what my problem was, i had low compression in both rotors wich means i had a dead renny. i know that some of the things mentioned above can lead to a stall situation but my problem went from bad to worse. i know its cost a bit but i insist on getting a compression check if you have had this problem just to be sure.

So did you get the compression check and a new engine? Whats the rest of the story? Did you try an engine cleaner(sea foam, BG44K?).

well my bad luck was i had no waranty at 76k. so i went nuts and am currently droping in an sr20. mazda wanted to charge me almost 7k to put a remaned renny in my car and i just couldent justify the exspense to have a stock problimatic engine put back in my car. as for the cleaners yeah i tried the seafoam thing and it helped a little but over time the omp not putting out as much oil as it was supposed to It fried the seals hence the compression loss. i bought the car used with 43k on it and im almost positive that it was not taken car of properly before i bought it, and as far as i can tell thats what its downfall was. if your interested in the swap i have a thread started in the aftermarket performance and major h/p upgrades.
