Put my track pads and new rotors on and
bleed the brakes with speed bleeders
now i have a spongy pedal
rear caliper boot was torn and when I back up I would hear a harsh vibration noise with the street pads
come to think of it I had problems screwing the one rear caliper down(not the torn boot side!) when I put the street pads in
did not go to my track event at SP this w/e
I am bummed to say the least
I have never been happy with the firmness of the brakes
so I am going to rebuild the front & rear calipers and the master cylinder
sorry about the long message I had to vent
comments/suggestions?

 

Since you have spongy brakes.. I would say you need to re-bleed them again.

No need to rebuild.

Also, if you turn in the slave cylinders to far you brakes suck and will feel spongy until the piston readjusts itself.

 

Bleed the master cylinder.....

 

I have a late model '05 w/o a bleeder
I think I will look for '04 to replace it

 

You can bleed it by opening the connector for the brake line.....but Mazda may have designed it so it self bleeds? Dunno

you dont need any special tools to take the whole thing apart.

you dont even need to take the rear apart.

You might have a bad piston seal, but thats just RAREeeeeee.

Just Turn your rear piston out and inspect it, but make sure you have a new set of rear seals before you turn it out. if the piston has no marks on it and the seals looks fine, REPLACE THE SEAL and turn it back in, then start bleeding it all over again.

and take those ******* speed bleeders away, I know a lot of people use them with no issues. call me weird but I just dont trust those. I have friends/family that can help me bleed my brakes whenever I want/need to. and stock bleed screw works very well for me. Im sticking with that.
