Why are you pissed? You got a brand new engine right? The fact it took a month pisses you off i suppose though, right? How long do these things usually take?

It took 2 days for the actual removal and installation. It took 27 days for the car to sit outside 250 + miles away and endure 2 hail storms receiving $1,900 in damage. I am responsible for the damage. BTW, the engines are not brand new, they are remanufactured/rebuilt.

That's a long time. Did they give you a rental? Sucks about the hail damage.

Yes, the engines are just rebuilt using "good" used parts and some new parts.

Mazda does not provide any transportation assistance with an RX8 engine replacement. The original time estimate was 10 to 14 days. They lost 2 certified technicians and are very behind on RX8 engine replacements. A well defined management problem! I am done with Mazda!

I have to point out the obvious:

Your issues aren't with Mazda, they are with your dealer.
They are the ones who caused 2 techs to leave.
They are the ones who left your car sitting out in the open lot, where it can suffer damage.
They are the ones who's job it is to install the engine in a timely manner.

If they had the engine at their facility in 10 days, but everything else caused them to delay installing it for another 19 days, then they should be held responsible for the damages you have suffered while the car was under their care.

They have insurance.
Make them use it.

BC.

I believe we are saying the same thing. The trouble is in SC and NC I have yet to find a dealer that can support an RX8. Therefore, I am done with Mazda.

Next time you sign that form to give consent to have your vehicle checked into the dealer service department be sure and read the fine print.
I am still in discussions with the dealer.........................frustrating but I believe in if you let up you loose!

Sorry to hear about your problems. My dealership, Medcenter Mazda in Birmingham, AL, tested and replaced my engine in a little over a week. They also provided a loaner car while they had my 8. Guess good dealerships are getting hard to find.

Peterlemonjello,
Very Familiar with Med Center Mazda, bought 2 Miata's from them back in 92 - 93. Does not surprise me that it was a great experience for you. You are correct, Mazda dealers are not common and not commonly consistant!
Glad yours went well!
