nope. it isnt in the basic warranty so mazda wont pay for a loaner.
but the dealership called me and said that they are replacing my cat, and that my spark plugs were fouled, and thats what was causing the problem. i dont know how if i just replaced them last november. but w.e. i bought the plugs from there so im hoping they will replace them for free.
do you guys think that the plugs could be the problem?

Not sure how bad plugs cause blue smoke.
You should still have gotten a rental.
Replacing cat wont' do much good but it'll be nice to have a brand new one sitting in the garage.

not going above 7k when punching it hard, and lots of smoke out the back sounds like you're not getting a good spark.
if it was oil leaking into your engine, youd have blue smoke pretty constantly, most common internal oil leak that i've seen is the oil control rings, a relatively simple test to see if those have failed would be to hold the car at around 3k-3.5krpm after it has warmed up completely. If its dumping blue smoke, the oil control rings are done.
If it's a coolant seal that has gone, youd be putting out a blanket of white smoke for the most part, I havent seen too many renesis' with coolant seal problems and we had one kid who's fans blew and stopped working, who then lost all the coolant as he drove about 4 hours from where he was to our dealership...we fixed the fans filled the coolant and the car was 100% strong.
Another good sign if you've lost a seal is if your crank time is longer then normal, almost seeming like its flooded.
Now to address something real quick, who said you guys can only use Idemitsu or Pettit premix? Has anyone given a true reason on this?
I've been premixing rotaries for about 7 years now, all big power turbo motors. The rule of thumb for premix is it HAS to be rated "TCW3"....thats it. No reason to be buying this high dollar bullshit.

thats how i started out with my engine problem. they first replaced my spark plugs, then a week later the problem was back so they replaced the coils, plugs, and wires, and then after another week. A NEW MOTOR

i hope my engine doesnt end up like that. this engine has run strong as hell up until now.
Mine did this today. Exact same symptoms (the smoke freaked me out a little). Initial search turned up this thread. The dealer is closed, so that will come later. I'm curious though, now that you have had your car back for a few weeks, is it fixed or have you had more problems?
The things to check for these symptoms (for those that have this in the future):
Coils
Plugs
APV motor
The later checks itself every so often when you cycle the ignition. Just listen for it flopping around when you turn the motor on or off.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully it is just that easy. I bought the car on Saturday and put 150 miles on it so far. 04, mt, w/48,000 miles. I'm so pissed you can probably see my red face from there. Used care dealer gave me 1K miles or 30 days warranty......in writing. I think he just lost money on the deal. Wish me luck.
You know, when I bought the car I was told it was out of warranty. Also, carfax said it was out. I ran across that "extended warranty" thread just a few minutes ago. It sounds like that is automatic and would apply to me. Are there any catches that would not cover me for some reason? I printed off the letters that were posted for reference and planned on calling the Mazda customer service center to see if I was covered tomorrow. Seems it would be lots less hassle than dealing with this used car dealer.

give them a call, write down and give them your VIN when they ask for it, and they will tell you for sure. based on the year and miles, you should be in warranty. but it is always good to make sure
