Hey guys, i've just recently came upon this issue with my 2004 rx 8 6mt, occasionally I'll hear a snapping/popping noise (Sounds just like the noise a snapple cover makes when poped, just much louder) while turning my car towards the left. I immedietly starting searching online forums and this forum but I couldn't seem to find any problems that were very similar. I suspect its a problem with the suspension but I'm a total newb when it comes to any of this.

I did some experimenting with the problem and it only occurs when i turn the steering wheel to the left and it usually occurs when the steering wheel is turned approximatly 90 degrees to the left. The noise doesn't always occur however, it happens every now and then when i turn to the left.

This problem started about 3 days ago when I was in reveerse with the the steering wheel turned towards the left. The noise also occurs when the car is not moving and I turn the wheel.

Any clue what the problem could be? It doesn't seem like a major issue but I'm not just going to ignore it not look into it.

 

there is a popping sound related to lug nut torque. Original specs were around 80 ft lbs, fix is to go to 100. You could try that.

Probability is mid to low that this is the case, but you cannot beat the price.
