So I have a 04 rx8. It got diagnose with low compression about two months ago. I had decided to do an engine cleaning using seafom and I think it was for the worse. Now after the car is hot and I star driving it I can't stop completely because the car would turn off on me and since it has low compression it doesn't turn on until the car has cool down. I have the engine light on since I bought it more than a year ago. the code I have is P0442(SMALL LEAK). I have read about this code and people always claim is the gas cap but I have check under the car and I have a leak. I have attached a picture of where I notice the leak and a picture of my compression test. Can this be the leak causing the engine light ? Can it be the reason behind my car turning off or is just because of the low compression ? Can an other engine clean with seafom and some type of oil mix make it better again ??? I currently can't drive the car because I need to pass the emission test first since my plates are expired and I can't even drive the car two block after been hot with out turning off on me. I have made the decision on saving for a new engine/rebuilt which would cost about 5,000 anywhere. Should I fix the leak first ? Thanks for all the help.

the small leak refers to a leak in the evaporative system, and the gas cap is a likely culprit there.

the oil pan/engine leaks are just engine oil leaks.

fixing the CEL code, possibly with a gas cap, might get you through an emissions test, however it won't fix anything else.
