as the title suggests a few months ago my side marker light on the passenger side shut off..i checked the obvious possible burnt out bulb and that wasnt it..maybe a month after that my passenger side hid head light is now shutting off after being on for a few minutes.if i turn the headlight switch off/on it comes back on and repeats by shutting off in a few minutes.not sure if these two are at all related or what the problem could be.i posted another thread similar to this one a few weeks ago but was mistakingly calling the side marker a drl for some reason and im sure that confused some pep so i am making a new more correct thread as the other really didnt provide much good info as it was my own fault that i mislead everyone on my ailment.im also using an aftermarket hid bulb set and led in the side marker.one guy suggested to shake the harness on the side marker that it may be loose.i did that and still no good. someone else posted the headlight issue could be a ballist. this may be correct but would the two be connected in anyway? thanks for the help guys and sorry for the double thread on the same subject..

well,i found the side marker issue.it appears that one of the 4 prongs that make contact with the bulb had a crack in it.i removed the bulb,looked inside,saw it loose,and then i moved it with my finger and it fell right out..going to try and rig something up as i know you have to get the entire light assembly from mazda..as far as the headlight though im stumped.i followed the wires ground from the harness and it appears to connect at the left from the windsheild washer resivior.if thats correct it looks fine to me.is there anything in specific you think i should check for when looking for a ground issue?

Maybe it's just the bulb ......looks like you have 2 problems going here.

If it's the HID it could be the ballast as well. You can check the bulb by trying it on the side that works for sure...if the thing lights it is the balast or the wiring...if it doesn't it is the bulb

Biggest PIA is removing everything to get at the bulbs....

Lots of used pigtails floating around for the side marker lights...put up a wanted post...
