Screw gas mileage
a tire with a nail in it can be fixed for about 20 bucks. Even a new tire is only 220 or so.
yeah, I saw that "2006 for over a year" thing too. Either they sold her an 05 and said it was an 06, which the post leads me to believe is possible, or it's a typo.

Should nail(s) in a tire cause the car to stall all by themselves - no. If you want to prove this, take a different car which has been running fine, drive some nails similar to the one's your sister has been acquiring from her favorite roadside in to one or more tires of that car, and then drive the second car. If it begins to stall immediately thereafter then maybe your on to something and the dealer has made a correct diagnosis.
If the dealer is just removing the nail-augmented wheel from her RX-8, taking the tire off the rim, removing the nail and fixing the residual puncture, remounting & rebalancing the tire on the rim, and then putting the wheel back on the car then you are being ripped off. If they are selling you a brand new tire each time then your not getting a great deal but ripped off might not apply (depending on the make/model tire she is buying from a dealer via this transaction). If the dealer is selling her a brand new tire and a brand new rim with it (because heaven knows she might need a new rim as well
), then she is getting a heck of a good deal!!!

Maybe they charged her for putting fresh mountain air in her tires do you have any idea what it costs to ship that stuff and keep it pressurized and truly fresh...

Everyone overlooked the best advice - Anyone who cannot handle a nail hole isn't smart enough to own a car.
To original poster(s): Take out a newspaper add and sell the car kids.
Anyone who cannot conherently explain whether a dealership sold new tires or simply patched nail holes shouldn't post on an internet forum.
Consider selling your computer too.
