is she being ripping her off?!
My sister owns a 2006 RX-8 and she has only had for a little more over a year and has had some major issues with it. Earlier this year she took it to a Mazda dealership [not the one she purchased it from] because it kept stalling and making strange noises. The mechanics checked it out and said that she has a nail in one of her tires, she got fixed and its costed her around $400. Just recently the same problem occured, she took it to the same dealership, but this time they said that 2 of her tires had nails in them [3 in each]. This costed her around $900. And just a couple days ago after getting it repaired it stalled again...Is she being ripped off?

............. seriously........... is this a joke?
if this is NOT a joke question, then NO you and your sister are NOT getting ripped off. the dealers deserve the money they
got. fixing flat tires that stall the car are very hard to fix. I am suprised they did not charge more.

sounds to me that your sister has a seriouse nail problem. but it's a good thing the dealer keeps fixing them for so cheap. If you came to me with a nail in the tire problem causing the engine to stall I dont think I could do it for any less then $1,500

Yes her anus was ripped into...
Here are some simple questions:
Where do you live? What is the dealership's name and contact information that your sister took her car to? What is your sister's name? What color is her RX8?
The answers to these questions will help me contact the dealer and have them refund the money. That's what I would do.

simple logic also, would nails in a tire stall a car engine?
also, if the tire was fixed and the same problem occured, the logic explains that the tire isn't the cause of the prob. If it happens again, check your tires for nails before bringing it to the dealer. also i find this very hard to believe...

Now wait a minute, guys. Maybe you're being hasty in flaming into this guy. consider that this much excess metal, incorrectly inserted into the tire spinning at 1000 or so rpm is going to alter the electromagnetic fields surrounding the PCM (flux capacitor, and all associated systems), so it could cause stalling.
Maybe you should reconsider.. . . . [B]

ok ok ok, all kidding aside. I'll try to answer the question without laughing hysterically.
First off, nails in tires will not stall the engine. Any engine stalling issues should be checked out and covered under warranty (unless she has modded her engine so much that there is a possibility she voided her warranty).
Secondly, most tire shops will remove and patch nail holes FOR FREE. There is no need to go to a dealership for removing nails (especially ones that do not cause engine stalling).
Did they get her to buy new tires??? I won't even go into why she paid that type of money, but if she did, she had better have brand new tires (which are not necessary for nail holes). If this is a real situation and she does not have new tires, you should call Mazda corporate and have them open a file on this shady dealer.
The lesson to be learned is: she should educate herself on what is going on with her car. These things can be fully explained by the service writer and she should bring someone with her if this is too confusing to her. Maybe next time you should go with, as a year old car has a warranty that covers most items.
That is, if this were a real situation (which I seriously hope it's not).
