No one on this forum can tell you for certain how that will go, so you'll have to wait and see what the dealer says. You may not like their initial conclusion, so be prepared to take the problem up the chain--to MNAO if necessary. Your owners manual has instructions for doing that. Be persistent if necessary, but keep your cool and be polite. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Shawn,
I have the AT so I wouldn't know, but does your car manual says you have to double clutch it? I sincerely doubt it.... So, if it is under warranty and you drove it as it should (and yes, it is a sport car, even Mazda advertise it like this), then I think you have a strong case to go to Mazda USA customer center.

Dude, I've had this happen to me before with another car company and my best friend just got her WRX back from the dealer w/a similar issue. Stuff like this happens all the time. The opperative statement here is to "maintain your composure when you are talking to MNAO". State the facts, explain your point and escalate if you have to. It won't be easy, but be persistent.
Good Luck!!!

I found a low mileage used one for $1050 shipped and installed it myself, it works much better than the original, IMO the original was either f'd up at the factory or f'd up during the100 miles that were put on it prior to my ownership, I nver even took it to the dealer, it just wasn't worth the BS and hassle
simply put, they are blaming defective and marginally designed parts on owner abuse
going to the strip and hard shifting month after month after month and it finally breaks is abuse, shift it hard several times on the street and it breaks is not abuse, it's pizz poor BS

No way anyone should have to put up with this. I bought a brand new car. if I lose 2nd gear while under warranty it better damn well be covered. The dealer gets paid for warranty work correct? Dealer trying to get paid from Mazda and the customer or do I misunderstand how they get reimbursed for warranty work?

If the dealer does not have good standing with Mz they have to call to authorize major repairs.
