Samco 6 pc rad hoses, where does this piece go?!

I ordered the 6 pc samco radiator hoses from Adam (THmotorsports), awesome guy, great prices and shipped fast. Unfortunately there was no diagrams that came with the set, and there is actually more than 6 pieces of radiator hoses on the rx8. I had to compare OEM and samco hoses, most was of it was pretty on spec except for one. None of the OEM hoses that I looked at resembled this hose, and it seems like the only place it actually fits (from hoses i saw) is the coolant overflow bottle but then it just seems to be dangling down looking out of place.... Maybe someone with the same set can enlighten me where this rad hose maybe located.

Looks to possibly be the diamater of the coolant overflow hose.
If that's what it is..............route it so that it CANNOT drip onto the power steering connectors! That is a major issue with the stock overflow hose. Actually, I would use a hose that clearly gets it down below those connectors. Mine runs all the way down and actually pokes out of the slots in the undertray by about 1/2 inch.
There are numerous threads with power steering issues related to coolant getting on those connectors!

Doesn't really have to do with your question................but is certainly food for thought!

Yea thats what i figured, and this hose doesn't completely move away from the PS connector. Went to a local NAPA auto parts store and had them cut me a 3foot radiator hose and routed it down under the splash tray like you . So i'm assuming this 6th hose from samco is totally useless. Lol might as well call it a 5 piece hose set with 1 extra.

It's the samco kit. I bought it from Black Halo Racing but they don't seem to have it on their website anymore.

That is because Samco has had problems with sending the correct fitting hoses.

Just wanted to bring this back from the dead a little bit and let you know I have been working with another member on here about his kit(s). He didn't get a proper fitting piece on the first kit either, waited forever for the second and I'll be damned, same problem. Samco was uncooperative in resolving the issue the first time as well. We ended up just purchasing a whole new kit instead of wasting our time with them.

Lots of money spent on two kits that aren't even complete and missing a main line .... looks like we are following suite and not selling these anymore.

It is a shame too because they are nice hoses, lucky for me I could make my hose work. Guess they think they are to good for the rx8 community's business.

Thread revival and moving our Samco discussion to the proper thread. I received this e-mail from Samco tonight regarding a lengthy e-mail I sent them.

Hi Joel,

Thank you for taking time to email Samco directly regarding the issue of the
hose which doesn't fit the U.S version of the car, I will try my best to
resolve the issue for you.

Initially the kit was only offered to customers in Europe and Japan as the
original hoses were supplied by a Mazda main agent here in the UK. When
these were ordered from the main dealer we were assured that there was no
variation on the models worldwide, this now appears to have been incorrect
but only with the U.S version of the car and only one hose. Our wholesale
distributors in the U.S then started ordering the kits as they were listed
on the European website, this probably happened due to members of the RX8
forums purchasing the kits in Europe and the word spreading through forums
of Samco offering them in it's range.

We did have an individual customer (not a distributor) on the forums contact
us highlighting the issue and offered to send in the original U.S spec hose
which was causing the issue, however no hose was ever received by Samco.
Unfortunately the hose in question is not available through Mazda
distributors in Europe for us to purchase but If you were prepared to send
the original Mazda hose to me I would certainly have a tool manufactured and
send you a Samco version of the hose in the colour of your choice to
complete your kit.

I would very much like to know the name of the distributor who claims that
Samco is "unwilling to correct the issue" as this is certainly not the case.
I suspect this distributor does not have a direct account with Samco but
only purchases stock through one of our main wholesale distributors, please
send me there details and I will look into these allegations further as this
can be very damaging for a company which would certainly look at rectifying
any issues with its product.

Thank you once again for taking time to bring this issue to our attention, I
look forward to helping you and other members of the RX8 community resolve
the issue.

Best regards,

Mark Hale.

Update: I have shipped my OE hose to Samco in the UK and have told them which hose number it should replace in their kit. They are going to be making me a hose to match the one I sent them. They are supposed to then update their kit for the US market and make it available. Here is part of an e-mail from Mark Hale from Samco.

Hi Joel,

Thank you for helping out with this issue, once I have the U.S spec hose here with me I will issue a new Samco kit number which will be specific for any customers in the U.S wishing to purchase a coolant kit designed to fit the U.S domestic version of the RX8. As soon as the revised kit number is issued it will supersede the European kit listed on the U.S Samco website, I will have this changed here and this will hopefully end the issue with the one hose.

The hose you have left over which never fitted on your engine will have a SamcoSport code embossed into it, please can you let me know what the number is please so I can remove it from the kit and replace it with a new number for the U.S version.

Please ship the hose to me directly here at the factory in the UK, I will follow it through and ensure you get everything we have spoken of in previous emails.

I finally received my new hose from Samco, plus a couple extra goodies. The hose looks to be correct but my car just went into the paint shop so I will be unable to confirm fitment for at least 2 to 3 weeks. Once I can confirm the fitment, Samco will be posting a new hose kit that is specific for US 6 port models, probably going to say for 6 speed GT models only because that is what my car is and they don't want to have more issues of incorrect fitting hoses. They don't seem to have trouble with their kit for the UK models

Here is a pic of one of the hoses they sent me. Name: samcohoseedit.jpg

It was the lower coolant reservoir hose. Not sure the actual name but I could point it out on Mazda's diagram. You have the top hose which is a return and then the bottom one. Here is a picture of what the OEM one is, and the one that I originally received in my kit so you can see the difference.

I received a new hose from Samco and the fitment is perfect. A new kit should be available soon for just the US. This should solve any fitment issues.

I was asked to post this on the forum and hopefully this will close the issue.

"Hi Joel,

That's great news, and thank you for your assistance with this issue. If you are on the forums it's important that owners of the U.S spec RX8's order the correct kit for their car containing this hose, therefore I have given it a specific Samco kit number which is TCS-544/C. As long as they order this kit all the hoses will be correct.

Once again thank you for all of your help,

Mark."

Wow, glad I came across this updated thread. I think the person that previously contacted them was me. I emailed Samco back in December, but at the time they were closing for the Holidays. He did ask me to send the hose back, but after the New Year I got distracted and never sent it.

This looks like the same hose I had problems with. I bought my kit off another forum member, so I'm not sure where it actually came from originally.

Redline - do you think I can send them my hose, in exchange for the correct one?

We probably will never know the full story as to why suddenly that particular hose was changed. They didn't have any intention of changing their kit for the UK market so that is what made me think that maybe there is something different in our US models.

I don't see why they wouldn't. They fixed the issue for me but I did have to pay shipping to the UK. I did get an extra hose and clamp set (for sale now lol) for my troubles. They know I am not the only one who had issues with their kit. I didn't even have to show proof that I purchased a kit but I'd have it just in case.

Well it sounds like the company is definitely stepping up and trying to fix this problem. I still have their email somewhere - I'll get back to them and see if I can get the replacement. Thanks for all the good info!

I knew i wasn't crazy. CRH, any chance i can get a replacement for mine? i bought the urban camo from you a while back when you first started selling these kits. I paid a lot of extra money for that color for a hose that didn't fit.

You will need to contact Samco directly I believe. I don't think BHR has a direct account with SamcoSport.
