MI RX was running shut it off Now it wont start?

new to the RX8 world and the rotary engine, backed the RX out of the garage, shut it off, did some stuff in the garage , went to get back in and it will crank but will not fire. figured it was fuel soaked/flooded. so pulled the plugs out and cleaned them, oil was gassy so i changed that and the filter, also put a new battery in and it still will only turn over, 2005 RX8 C4 6 speed, with 27k miles.

before i haul it off to the dealer. anything common electrically or to check? any help is much appreciated. thanks

Search for anything flood, ignition and starter related. What do you mean by "gassy" oil?.

just smelled gassy, like old carb style motors a certain amount of gas always bleeds down into the oil, so i pulled the stick to smell the oil and it smelled like fuel and oil, so i changed the oil.

thank you

Bad thing to do, more or less, but after you get it deflooded, makes sure the MSP-16 reflash has been done. The dealer will know thru the VIN. If it hasn't been uploaded, they will do it for free. Makes the car more flood resistant, ups the amount of oil injected, and does other important stuff...

thanks for the heads up. Do you know when this update came about. Roughly 4 years ago i had to take it to the dealer for a not start and they did a plug recall and a battery recall and i beleive a flash update?

thanks again

If you pulled plugs, then charge battery, foot to the floor, crank.

If you have not changed the coils, now might be a good time. 6 years is a long time for coils.

Good luck.

now running

Well dragged it up to the dealer and it was just severly fowled out, They replaced the plugs, did a flush and another pcm flash update, Now it runs great . All under warranty still. I was also told that it could have been the engine and they were expecting it to be that.
Thanks for all who chimed in.
