Please help, drove 04 Rx8 car on Friday and Saturday and all was fine. Did not drive on Sunday, went out on Monday and car would not start. I assumed it was the battery(lights dim and just trying to turn over) had the battery jumped and battery would not jump. Had the battery checked and battery was strong at that time told it was the starter. Replaced the starter and the car still would not start. Then advised to change the spark plugs, did as suggested and even deflooded the car. What is wrong with my 8? I am so confused and baffled, what is wrong?

 

1. Did you get a updated starter?
2. Check coils?
3. Compression test

 

You got a new starter, but is it the faster one (mid-2005 build and on)?

Are you sure your battery is good (check capacity, not just instantaneous 12v)?

Check the usual coils/cables/'plugs.

If none of the above it could in fact be low compression (carbon buildup).
