Return of power loss problem while goiing..
Up a hill.
I hadn't seen this in months but when returning today from Cleveland--about 60 miles or a 45 minute drive--going up a long grade where I had seen a power loss before, it reappeared again. Speed --a steady 80--start up the grade, speed starts to drop, finally stabilizing around 75. I didn't touch anything just let the cruise handle it or not. Got close to the crest and the speed started to rise again and then it just kept accelerating--up to 85 where I stepped on the break and the cruise dropped out.
I had this in months ago and got all the BS answers which icluded" you shouldn't be driving that fast". It seems that you have to have the car out for at least 30 minutes and need to be at highway speed and encounter a significant grade. This dealer was not interested in sending out a tech for 30 minutes to check it out.
Any thoughts? Cruise control malfunction or something else?

If the grade was steep enough I would feel this was normal as the CC was slow to catch up with what gas it needed and then it was slow letting go of the gas. Was this the same problem you had before? Power-Loss?

Gas level?
Hmm, hadn't thought about that, but 10 miles after passed that point I refueled and put 13.5 gallons in it. The light was on but not on E. I know it's done this in the past with more gas i n the tank but I will check that.
6th gear won't hold a 5-7 % grade? Wonder why it didn't do this 2 weeks ago? Also, why would the car accelerate past the set cruise level? Makes me think the cruise control unit is defective.
Apex seal recall?
My problem here is that this problem is so sporadic that I can't get the dealer engaged to really look at it.
BTW, the car passed the recall last month so ifigured it wasn't a compression issue.

My acura always did this when using cruise up steep hills. It seemed as if the engine was struggling to keep up the speed and then when the hill started to plateau it was going a bit to fast.
Although my girlfriend claims that she had problems (in the 8) with the acceleration twice without the cruise..
Swope.. tell me what you know about dried out apex seals! please...

under some conditions usually light cruise.... with older flashes... you can loose power... i had the problem for a while... the newer flashes fix the problem... but if it was a problem the damage was done.
i have a new motor... yummy... and premix is you friend...
pm me if you want to know more.

One more twist to this problem
Same hill last night, 71mph on cruise, sixth gear. I let the car slow to 67 and then it picked up speed as we approached the crest.
After the crest it accelerated to 77 and then started to buck--felt like a misfire--until I touched the brake and it all went away. Proceeded home without a problem after that.
Swoopes feels it might be the seals; I'm wondering if it's the cruise. Can't say I've ever had a car speed up and then buck like that on cruise.
Any ideas? I'm going to try it today w/o cruise at the same speed and see what it does.
