Retractable Key Problem

Retractable Key Problem
Hi all, new on this forum, just bought my rx-8 this week, picking it up from the dealer on saturday. It's an '05 model... really excited
I tried doing a search on the forums but couldn't find anything. My problem is the key that the dealer is giving me is the retractable type, except that the actual key itself doesn't fold back into place when you press down the silver button... does anyone have any experience fixing the mechanism inside? is it spring loaded? anything I should be watching out for when opening it up? I was planning on doing it myself but I figured it would be safer to ask someone on here if they've had a similar experience...

They were actually nice enough to throw in a brand new second key, but the fiancee is getting the shiny new one... it's not a big deal.. more of an annoyance really...
Maybe I'll post a DIY of it when I take it apart... just don't wanna deprogram the key or something...

I managed to fix it... but broke all of the tiny plastic clips inside of the top part... luckily I have access to industrial strength adhesive.
So as a heads up to anyone else who has this problem in the future... the switchblade portion of the key was not designed to come apart... there's a tiny screw embedded underneath the mazda symbol... all of the retaining clips are in shreds... but at least the key flips open and closed now...
not sure if i should be happy or pissed...
