Rear dash rattle/tapping driving me nuts, help please!
Has anyone had a similar problem coming from their rear dash? It sounds almost like something tapping against the glass. When the weather is really hot and the car is outside I don't hear it until the air conditioning cools off the interior a little bit. Now that it's gotten cool, it's gotten louder. I had the car into the dealer in the summer, and they glued the trunk light. I thought it was fixed, but the car had been sitting out in the sun and by the time I was an hour away, it was back. I took it back a second time and let the service manager ride in the back seat. He said that he couldn't isolate the sound, and that he was afraid that by taking the dash apart it would just cause more squeaks and rattles.
I'm just wondering that surely since people replace speakers in the car and that's the only way to do it, it can't cause that much problem to remove the dash. I really think they just don't want to fool with it. Is there something under the dash that can be causing this tapping sound?
All I know is that it is driving me crazy, I can't even enjoy driving the car. Even with the radio up to 12 I hear it through the music, the road doesn't even have to be rough. I've even considered taking the seats out myself, but my husband is afraid to. I've thought about taking it to a detail shop that installs electronics and let someone there do it and pay them. What do you think. Anyone have any ideas?

Yea, i think i also hear the same thing. Didnt hear it when it was warm (or at least heard it much much less), but now that its cold, it really squeaks all the time. I think its comfing from the rear glass.

There was a thread some time back related to a rattle behind the side panel in the passenger rear seat. The source of that rattle was discovered and corrected as I recall. Maybe yours is a similar problem? Sorry I can't be more specific, but if you search you should be able to find the thread.

I read in one of the forums that one person fixed his rattle/tapping by having the window reseated. Actually, the dealer took it and had it done, and it solved the problem. I'm beginning to think it is something to do with the glass. Maybe that explains why when it's really hot it quits making the noise. I wonder if I could just take it to glass company and let them hear the sound and see if they can tell. My dealer is 2 hours away, it would almost be worth it to pay for it myself.
