Exclamation Radio fire>

while redoing my amp today a wire came loose and apparently grounded out and smoke came from my vents in the center and now when the car starts the guages first start studdering all over and sweeping and then i can hear the normal click under the hood but instead of one click it does it like 5 times and also the radio no longer works, AC works and the power doors do not work without the key inserted and also once started the car drops to 500rpms and finally settles at 1k.

Can any1 help me out with what to look at and what needs to be done. HAs this ever happened to any of you before?!?! its getting dark and i need help.

Thanks

Wow. That is seriously shitty consequences for not TAKING OFF THE GROUND FROM THE BATTERY!! Noted as the VERY first thing to do when workingon the car.

Kersh, do you see why I was harping on this?

On topic, you might be lucky and just have damaged one thing, but you most likely fryed a board somewhere in line with the ground. Who knows. I would expect this to be very expencive.

Yup...sounds shorted still. Whether it be your original short or as a result from it. Start disconnecting what you already ddi and if that doesn't fix it pull the stereo and see if your problem goes away. You may also need a new battery depending on how bad the short was. Rough idle and sweeping gauges are signs of complete loss of power to the battery at some point and should go away.

Multiple issues could have been generated as a result of shorting that wire.
First lets start off with what we already know.
The radio doesn't work AND the power doors won't work unless the key is in (so its probably the whole keyless control module).
Check the BTN 30A fuse and see if its blown.

Ok guys UPDATE. Radio is shot. the radio will no longer run so i need one now.

the doors i got working again and the AC i assume doesn't work unless the Radio is hooked up? i mean the AC kicks in but the buttons don't light up and cant make it get cold i don't know if that's all together as i have the radio removed form the back but the panel was put back as i need a new radio. as the gauges i fixed that as well everything is back to normal except the A/C does any1 know if the Radio must be connected in order to control the AC or is there anything i can do to double check and make sure that is ok.

I remember working on a heater **** issue on another 8 and we had to reinstall the radio unit to test it.
I believe the wiring harness was plugged into a board on the radio unit and we couldn't just simply plug the board for the temp controls without the radio.
