Problems with emissions testing

Today I took my car in for its emissions test and it failed due to the computer not being able to connect to the testers software (obdii software). Has anyone else had this problem I recall going to autozone to have a diagnostic test and there software was unable to connect, im curious as to the emissions testing falling under the same umbrella? Has anyone else had this problem and if so does anyone know how to resolve it. Any help will be apprecatied thank you.

The RX-8 has the CAN BUS Interface, their equipment needs to be able to read CAN BUS. That should not be your problem. Contact whoever runs the place.

Exactly that is BS, that be like going with a AWD and failing cause they don't have the rollars capable of doing it. Need to find a place with the proper equipment or go to the dealer. btw under most of the warrentys if it fails it can be covered. Forgot what mileage extent but most new cars have it written in there.

Had same problem with my inspection. Took it to the Dealer and got inspection with no problem. Did they charge you? If they did you should get your money back as it is their problem not yours or your 8.s

Check your room fuse. It supplies power to the OBDII port and to the cigarrette lighter. So it is easily blown, and if it does their equipment will not be able to connect.
