Problem/solution I had- Knocking sound from rear

Hi-

I posted a few times on here about a strange noise I was hearing from the rear passenger side of my car. The best way I can describe it was it sounded like a knocking noise unrelated to the front of the car. Almost like I had left the gas cap off and it was erratically flopping against the car in the wind (of course, this wasn't it). It was very erratic and happened at totally random times at mid- speeds. I was sure that it had something to do with the suspension, but I was wrong.

After having my precious taken from me for the entire weekend (and given a station wagon to drive instead...worst weekend ever) they found the problem. Apparently, the insulation on that side of the car near the pillar was in poor condition (they called the insulation on the report "pagel filiment") and they installed new noise insulation. Of course after getting my baby back I took her for a long drive and heard no knocking or anything.

Just wanted to let you all know out there in case you're having a similar problem.

(YAY my RX8 is back....I've got a grin ear to ear)

Great post. Great info. Thanks for sharing.

It will be even greater if you edit its title so that it more closely reflects the topic so that it will be easier to locate when searching.
